When summarising knowledge or wisdom, you often wonder what to name put it all under. Thats where Sokononism comes in. The name comes from Stoicism and Bokononism. We are all pretty familiar with stoicism by now and Bokononism is a fictional religion created by Kurt Vonnegut in his 1963 novel Cat's Cradle.

Sokononism is based on practical, everyday wisdom required for a happy, successful life. Now, thats established, lets get on with the basic tenets:

  1. Purpose is one of the main requirement for happiness. Purpose which is bigger than yourself will provide you the required clarity in goals.

  2. Work hard and build your ability. Likes and Dislikes are overrated.

  3. Self belief - Focus on becoming rather than having

  4. Plans and Goals to know where you are going and how to get there. Detailed plan is required to avoid the stressing .

  5. Pros and Cons list is important for decision making

  6. Focus on the process and not on the results.

  7. In any situation, focus on the things that you can control and work with it rather than fight with things which you cant control

  8. Life long learning and knowledge should be one of the most essential goals in your life

So on and so forth, sounds good?
