J Krishnamurti, Indian philosopher and speaker famously said " The past is dead..... When the MIND is FREE of the old that it meets everything anew, in that there is JOY". This phrase "past is dead" conveys the idea that what has happened in the past is no longer relevant or cannot be changed. The past, GOOD or BAD is done, it doesn't matter unless we let it matter. Hence, dwelling on past events, mistakes, or regrets is unproductive because those moments are gone and cannot be altered. Essentially, making GUILT a useless emotion.

We all know the above, we know that instead of being struck in the past, we need to focus on the present and the future, as those are the areas where one can make a difference and take control of our life. But, its very hard to do was we are all prone to overthinking and "what - if" scenarios.

Solution to this problem is CONSCIOUS AWARENESS of our thoughts. It is the state of being fully conscious, alert, and cognitively aware of one's surroundings, thoughts, feelings, and sensory experiences. In this state, you will be aware that you are slipping into the past and with that awareness you can kindly nudge yourself back to the present.

Being present in the moment is a skill that we need to learn and practise!
